Mr. Phaneuf is the Chief Financial Officer of Fractal Systems Inc. He joined the Company in early 2018 and is responsible for all reporting, treasury and capital markets activities for the Company.
Mr. Phaneuf brings 27 years of financial and corporate development expertise across an array of disciplines and industries. Prior to joining Fractal, Mr. Phaneuf co-founded two separate oil & gas exploration and development companies as the CFO, one a large private equity backed entity (Seven Generations Energy), the other a public junior company which traded on the TSX-V (Toro Oil & Gas). Mr. Phaneuf also spent a number of years as the most senior corporate development officer for both an international oil and gas / technology company (Ivanhoe Energy) and a mini-conglomerate public construction and industrial service company (Churchill Corporation). In these roles, he was instrumental in leading all capital market, M&A and banking activities, in addition to the traditional financial reporting, investor relations and other corporate administration activities. He was also instrumental in developing the short and long-term business and marketing strategies of these companies through the use of analysis, modeling, experience and overall business knowledge.
Mr. Phaneuf has led or assisted in the formulation of over $2 billion in equity, debt and special hybrid financing capital. Other notable stops in his career include the Treasurer of Western Oil Sands (2004-2007) which eventually sold for an enterprise value of $7.1 billion to Marathon Oil and Manager of Corporate Finance for the TSX-V (and formerly the Alberta Stock Exchange) from 1998-2004.
Mr. Phaneuf began his career in Calgary in 1991 articling for Arthur Andersen where he earned his Chartered Accountant designation. He also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
