JetShear™ is Fractal’s first technology for the heavy oil industry. Conventional upgrading technology relies on processes requiring considerable severity to crack heavy oils or large amounts of solvent to deasphalt them. JetShear™ technology "destructures" heavy crudes under less severe conditions than alternative technologies, through well-engineered jet nozzles. These oils show improved properties due to changes in chemical structure. Fractal’s systems are modular, require less equipment than conventional upgraders, and therefore offer lower costs and have a smaller "footprint" (friendlier to the environment).

Fractal is developing other technologies beyond JetShear™ that will provide heavy oil players value in new ways.
